What we do

We provide warm safe comfortable housing in the Portsmouth city area for addicts and alcoholics. Our support services are geared toward showing people that there is another way to live without the need for drink and/or drugs.

Each new resident on arrival is assessed and a care plan produced that’s tailored to their individual requirements and periodically updated throughout the period of their stay.

The residents must remain abstinent from all mood-altering substances throughout of their stay as per their licence agreement.

We run daily psychosocial interventions in the form of group work, both structured and C.B.T based, and give the residents the opportunity to facilitate their own group (with our observations) by way of peer-led sessions.

A non-exhaustive list of services include:

  • Fully furnished accommodation
  • Feelings group
  • One to one appointments
  • Topics group
  • Life skills sessions (practical)
  • Sports afternoons
  • House/community meetings
  • Care planning
  • Mindfulness workshops
  • Application of boundaries workshop
  • Support with moving on to independent living

By staying in one of our properties each and every person will learn to live as part of a community by adhering to house rules and boundaries. We regularly and privately screen all residents for illicit substances and alcohol to ensure that the community remains a safe place for both staff and residents.

We signpost residents to other agencies better equipped to deal with additional needs that may require professional support including mental health issues, physical health problems that may or may not have arisen from substance misuse. We also refer individuals to professional counselling for any childhood trauma.

We understand that the main determinants of relapse are motivation, mental strength, family and relationships, anxiety and depression. The ability to be able to understand and recognise these triggers are key to combating the likelihood of relapse. Stress, people, places and things connected to addictive behaviour, negative or challenging emotions, sensing the object of your addiction and times of celebration all fall within one of the afore mentioned categories. Our support service is designed with all of this in mind.
